TN govt schools told to upload library books into mobile app

As per the circular from the department recently, it noted that the work of uploading the books into the app must be done so that children can access books through the app.

CHENNAI: The School Education Department has directed all the government and government-aided schools to upload the text books at their respective libraries into the school library app. And for the same, the department has asked schools to involve volunteers of Illam Thedi Kalvi (education at your doorstep) scheme.

As per the circular from the department recently, it noted that the work of uploading the books into the app must be done so that children can access books through the app.

The department directed all the school principals to separate all the books in their school library into usable and unusable. “The books that are in usable condition should be sorted class-wise of and uploaded in the library application, with the help of Illam Thedi Kalvi volunteers,” noted the circular.

For this work, volunteers have been ordered to pay Rs 500 per day from the school grant and the volunteer should ensure at least 500 books are sorted and uploaded in the app.

Further, the department directed, to involve volunteers according to the number of books in school libraries and distribute the books to all the students on a rotational basis.

All the District Education Officers (DEOs) and headmasters of government and government-aided schools are requested to issue appropriate instructions for speedy completion of this work and ensure that all school libraries are properly maintained, stated the circular.
