CHENNAI: Owing to delay in appointing permanent teachers by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), the Directorate of Adi Dravidar Welfare (ADW) has been told to appoint temporary teachers to fill in the vacant posts in ADW schools in the State instead.

It has also been said that while filling up vacancies, preference will be given to candidates from Adi Dravidar and Tribal communities.

Overall, 465 vacant posts have been identified by the department across elementary, middle, high and higher secondary ADW schools in the State.

With salaries starting from Rs 7,500 till 12,000 per month, the department is set to fill up all the required vacant posts before January 20, to prepare students for the upcoming 2023 final exams.

Subsequently, according to the guidelines, the Bachelors in Teaching (BT) teachers, secondary grade teachers and PG teachers will be appointed on the temporary post from the date of recruitment till April 2023 only. And, the relevant vacancies are to be filled through the School Management Committee (SMC).

Further, all part-time teachers have been told to take classes on the relevant subjects and the school principal will monitor the same. Additionally, respective principals have to maintain the receipt of salaries paid to these teachers, as the same is subject to audit, detailed in the ADW department guidelines.

Meanwhile, to invite applicants, the department is directed to advertise the details of school-wise vacancies in their notice board and at the district collectorate, besides sending out press releases. The application for the post must be submitted directly or as a post only.

The applications and educational certificates of the candidates received from the ADW department will be verified by a SMC consisting of the principal and senior staff at the school.

And, upon selection, the details of the temporary teachers must be prepared school-wise, post-wise and subject-wise and be approved by the concerned district Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare officer, mandated by the guidelines.
