Tiruchy boy drowns in Cauvery, body recovered

S Dinesh Kumar, a resident of E-Pudhur in Tiruchy, has completed Class 12, along with his friend Santhosh went to take a bath in the Cauvery at Mukkombu.

TIRUCHY: A 17-year-old boy drowned in Mukkombu on Sunday evening, and the body was recovered by the fire and rescue personnel on Monday.

S Dinesh Kumar, a resident of E-Pudhur in Tiruchy, has completed Class 12, along with his friend Santhosh went to take a bath in the Cauvery at Mukkombu. Dinesh Kumar accidentally went to the deeper part of the river and drowned.

Soon, Santhosh raised an alarm, and the people tried to rescue him, but in vain.

Tiruchy Fire and Rescue personnel could not locate him even after a long search. On Monday morning, the fire personnel continued to search for the boy and retrieved the body.

Jeeyapuram police registered a case and are investigating.
