Thiruma banner damaged, VCK men stage protest

Tension prevailed near Swamimalai in Kumbakonam after miscreants damaged the VCK banner that was erected in Thirupurampiyam in view of a Thol Thirumavalavan’s arrival on Sunday.

On Sunday, the VCK members reportedly assaulted S Baskar (35), S Sakthivel (35) and the gang also had ransacked the houses of the duo and escaped from the spot. On information, the Swamimalai police rushed to the spot and rescued the duo and took them to the police station. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment where they were treated as outpatients after which they left for the police station.


Soon, the VCK branch secretary U Balakrishnan organised a road block protest demanding the arrest of culprits who damaged the banner. Subsequently, the security has been beefed up at the spot to avert any incidents. Meanwhile, Baskar and Sathivel who claimed that their houses were damaged by the VCK members demanded a severe action against them.


Later, based on the complaint by both the parties, the police inspector Hemalatha registered a case against S Baskar (35) S Sakthivel (35) and VCK branch secretary Balakrishnan (56). Further inquiry is on.


A case has been registered by the police against three individuals on Monday.
