Thanjavur: Miscreants steal deity’s ornaments from temple

TIRUCHY: Miscreants had stolen the gold ornaments weighing 31 grams and other valuables from the Angala Parameswari temple in Thanjavur on Monday.

It is said that the Angala Parameshwari temple is located at Kattukurichi in Thanjavur, and P Sridev (25), the priest, is taking care of the temple and the valuables.

On Sunday, the temple priest had closed it in the night as usual, and on Monday, when he went to open the temple, he was shocked to see the gold ornaments decorated for the deity, which weighed 31 grams and other valuables, including puja articles, had gone missing.

Sridev passed on the information to the Thanjavur Taluk police, who registered a case and conducted an investigation. The sniffer dog and fingerprint experts were also brought in for the investigation. Further investigations are on.
