Thanjavur man gets jail for sexually abusing 13-year-old boy

TIRUCHY: Thanjavur court on Wednesday sentenced a provision store owner from Ayyampettai to seven years in jail for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy.

In 2022, Abubakkar (53), sent a 13-year-old boy, who came to buy provisions, to go to the godown adjacent to the store on the pretext of taking stocks of commodities.

When the boy went to the godown, Abubakkar followed him and sexually abused him. The boy managed to escape and informed his parents.

Papanasam All Women Police registered a case under the Pocso Act. On Wednesday, judge Tamilarasi awarded 7 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 to Abubakkar. and ordered a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victim boy.
