Second year mechanical students of Arasu Engineering College in Thanjavur had come out with a novel idea of creating a robot to save time in cleaning the buses during COVID-19 pandemic.

“It can go beneath the bus seats and dust them and clean the entire bus and spray sanitizer and the entire process has been automated with the setting of separate features,” said, Sanjay Balaji, one of the team members. If the buses are manually cleaned and disinfected, it would consume at least one hour for each bus. “But our robot can do the entire process within 10 minutes for three buses,” he said. The operation of the robot has been completely controlled by a mobile phone, said Joshua Arak Austin another team member.
