All the injured were rushed to Thanjavur Medical College while a heavy posse of police has been posted at the village to avert any untoward incidents.

Sources said, there has been a prolonged enmity between Kaduvetti J Guru’s son Kanalarasan (24) and Kaduvetti panchayat president and PMK functionary Chinnapillai. In such a backdrop, Chinnapillai took the two wheeler of Kanalarasan’s friend after the second death anniversary of Guru on Monday.

On Tuesday night, Kanalarasan along with his brother in law Manoj (26) and his relative Madhan (30) went to the house of Chinnapillai to get back the two wheeler where a heated argument broke out between them. Suddenly Chinnapillai along with his son Ayyappan, brother Kamaraj and nephew Sathish attacked Kanalarasan and his men with lethal weapons. Kanalarasan, Manoj and Madhan, who sustained serious injuries, were rushed to the Jayankondam GH from where they were referred to Thanjavur Medical College hospital. Meensuritti police have registered a case and are investigating.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Guru’s mother Kalyani stated that senior leaders of the PMK were behind the attack.
