Teacher handed down twin-life sentence under POCSO

He was arrested for harassing minor girls of class 3 and 5 in the elementary school at Seerkazhi where he teaches.

A special sessions court for POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses) in Nagapattinam pronounced a twin-life sentence of 7 years for Moovendhan (28) and a penalty of Rs 25,000.

The bench headed by Justice Tamilarasi said that the accused should be in incarceration at a stretch throughout his sentence period in the Cuddalore prison.

He was arrested for harassing minor girls of class 3 and 5 in the elementary school at Seerkazhi, where he teaches.

Girls who were harassed, reported the matter to their parents, they in return lodged a complaint against Moovendhan in Seerkazhi all-women police station and got him arrested eventually.

The incident is said to have happened on January 24 2014.
