TIRUCHY: PMK cadre laid siege to the Jayankondam police station on Tuesday for registering cases against persons who opposed the inauguration of a Tasmac outlet.

The Tasmac authorities had organised an inauguration of an outlet at Sooriyamanal village on Monday evening. However, the residents from the village besieged the shop and locked it in opposition preventing the opening of the outlet.

However, the police registered cases against the residents who opposed the inauguration of the Tasmac outlet. The information about the registration of the cases against the residents spread like a wildfire.

On Tuesday, a group of PMK members led by the district secretary Ravi gathered in front of the police station and staged a protest. When they attempted to besiege the police station, they were stopped by the police personnel on duty.

Meanwhile, on information, SP Feroz Khan rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitating members. Upon assurance by the SP, the PMK members dispersed from the spot.
