Tamil Nadu records 1,404 fresh cases

The State recorded 1,404 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 10 deaths on Tuesday.

This brings the total to 7,83,319. The total number of active cases in the State currently stands at 10,980. Chennai recorded 422 fresh cases, with the total number of active cases in the city currently standing at 3,702.

In the districts, Coimbatore recorded 141 fresh cases, and Chengalpettu recorded 86 new cases. Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur had 63 cases each and Salem recorded 56 cases. Tirupur recorded 65 cases and all other districts had less than 50 cases.

Of the 10 deaths, six were recorded in private healthcare facilities and four were recorded in public facilities. Only one case did not have pre-existing comorbid conditions. The total number of deaths recorded across the State currently stands at 11,722.

Approximately 65,058 samples were tested across 221 public and private Covid-19 testing facilities across the State, bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 1,21,25,059.
