Tamil Nadu: Cabinet nod for easing conditional pattas

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had given its nod to the TNAPS, which was announced for government employees and teachers in place of the existing Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

CHENNAI: The Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister MK Stalin and approved the new pension scheme, Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TNAPS).


In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had given its nod to the TNAPS, which was announced for government employees and teachers in place of the existing Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).


Apart from the pension scheme, the Cabinet also discussed the long-pending issue of conditional pattas in the western region of the State.

According to sources, as many as 1,623 agricultural lands in several villages of Coimbatore and Erode districts have been issued for conditional pattas for many years.

Farmers have been demanding the removal of these conditions and the issuance of unconditional pattas, stating that the restrictions have affected land use and ownership rights. The Cabinet deliberated on the matter on Tuesday to arrive at a suitable decision.


"The necessary government orders may be issued at the earliest," sources said.
