Stalin inaugurates Rs 125 cr agriculture infra projects

Among them, the major project was the construction of infrastructure in agriculture university constructed at the cost of Rs 54.88 crore for the benefit of agriculture students.

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated agriculture infrastructure projects worth Rs 125.28 crore across the State.

The projects include 11 integrated agriculture extension centres, four laboratory buildings, horticulture information and research centres, agriculture commercial centres, building for agriculture engineering training and a multi purpose hall along with hostels in Agriculture University.

Among them, the major project was the construction of infrastructure in agriculture university constructed at the cost of Rs 54.88 crore for the benefit of agriculture students.

Under the the irrigation project in Killikulam government agriculture college, which was inaugurated at the cost of Rs 12.9 crore, 12.23 million litres of water is drawn from Thamirabarani river to the agriculture college, for a distance of 5.1 kilometers, and is stored in eight mega water tanks. The water from the tanks will be used to irrigate 700 acres of farm land around the agriculture college.
