Social media outraged over Pollachi abuse case

Enraged and distressed by the audio of the victim of the Pollachi sexual abuse case begging for help from her captives, people in the State took to Twitter to demand punishment for the offenders.

“These criminals should be given the strongest possible punishment, so that it will act as a deterrent for some aspiring criminals,” read a tweet, in tune with at least 30,000 other posts seeking immediate punishment with the hashtag #PunishTheRapists and #JudicialProbeForPollachiRapes.


The social media outrage was sparked by the audio of a victim was leaked. Several celebrities, including actors Vishal, Jayam Ravi, Kamal Haasan, Sibi Sathyaraj joined the chorus and demanded a detailed probe into the case, besides urging the court to award timely punishment to the offenders.
