Senthilbalaji's custody has been extended till August 8

Senthilbalaji appeared through VC today as his judicial custody expires.

CHENNAI: Sessions court in Chennai has yet again extended the judicial custody for Senthilbalaji, who was arrested in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case, till August 8, 2023.

Senthilbalaji appeared through VC from Puzhal prison before Session Court Principal Judge S Alli, on Wednesday, as his judicial custody expired.

After questioning Senthilbalaji the Judge extended his judicial custody for another two weeks until August 8, 2023.

Minister Senthilbalaji was arrested on June 13, by the Enforcement Directorate under PMLA in an alleged cash-for-jobs case.

Later, the same day Judge Alli visited the hospitalized Senthilbalaji and subjected him to Judicial custody till June 28. Senthilbalaji's judicial custody was already extended twice by the principal Judge on July 12 and July 26 respectively. Now his judicial custody has been extended for the third time till August 8, 2023.

It may be noted that a division bench of the Madras High Court has closed the Habeas Corpus Petition (HCP) filed by Senthilbalaji's wife against his arrest, as the appeal petition pertaining to the HCP is pending in the Apex Court.
