CHENNAI: In view of the heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Kancheepuram district collector has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on Wednesday (October 22) as a precautionary measure.

In Chennai, schools, both government and private, will remain closed, while in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore and Tiruvallur, both schools and colleges will observe a holiday, officials said.
