Sathuvachary women close liquor shop

A tussle between anti and pro liquor shop supporters resulted in police chasing away men supporting the shop with finally the shop being forced to down shutters at Sathuvachary on Thursday.

VELLORE: A tussle between anti and pro liquor shop supporters resulted in police chasing away men supporting the shop with finally the shop being forced to down shutters at Sathuvachary on Thursday. Tasmac opened a retail liquor outlet at Kurinji Nagar in Sathuvachary a week ago. However, women from 4 localities objected and their agitation resulted in the shop’s closure. However, officials with police help opened the shop on Wednesday due to which local women were again up in arms again. Suddenly a group of men arrived and started raising slogans in support of the shop resulting in a tussle. Police had to chase them away. As the women refused to budge, the shop was closed again.
