CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Selvaperunthagai on Wednesday accused Professional Congress chairman Praveen Chakravarthy of attempting to create confusion within the party through his recent remarks on power sharing and seat allocation.

Congress Professional chairman Praveen Chakravarthy, while speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, said that Congress cadres were expecting more seats from alliance partners and a share in power in the State government.

He stated that his comments were made in the interest of the welfare and future of the Congress party in Tamil Nadu.

Reacting strongly to these remarks, TNCC president Selvaperunthagai told DT Next that Praveen Chakravarthy's statements were intended only to create confusion within the party.

He said that alliance-related discussions were being carried out strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

"The AICC has given clear guidelines, and based on that, we are holding alliance talks with our partners. There is no need for anyone to create unnecessary confusion," Selva Perunthagai said.
