Powerloom workers protest for wage hike

More than 2,000 powerloom workers staged a massive demonstration in Tirupur on Monday demanding revision of wages.

Around 2.50 lakh powerloom units in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts were on strike since January 9 to highlight their demand. The protestors claimed that the master weavers are refusing to pay even the wages fixed in 2014. Members of around 9 powerloom associations participated.
