Police begin fresh probe into death of school HM

The police said that they are also planning to quiz the auto driver Kathik who took Palaniappan in his auto on the day of the alleged murder. Investigations are on.

CHENGALPATTU: The mother of a 52-year-old school headmaster who died under mysterious circumstances two months ago had requested the Chengalpattu police to revisit the investigation after which a special police team had brought in several suspects for questioning to see if there was any foul-play involved.

The deceased Palaniappan, a resident of Tirukazhukundram worked as a headmaster in the Keezharkollai municipal school.

On July 7, he told his wife that he was planning to get a diabetes test done at the Chengalpattu GH and left the house. However, when he did not return home that day, a search revealed his naked body lying near the Kalpakkam beach with suspicious injuries.

While his body was sent for an autopsy, the deceased’s mother Kannamani, 70, requested the district police superintendent to investigate the case as she suspected a woman who was involved in a theft in their house.

Following this, the cleanliness worker Premavathy who was named as a suspect was questioned.

The police said that they are also planning to quiz the auto driver Karthik who took Palaniappan in his auto on the day of the alleged murder. Investigations are on.
