Palaniswami wraps up three-district visit with livestock park inspection

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami wrapped up his four-day visit to Salem, Coimbatore and Tiruchy on Wednesday to leave for Chennai by road.

On the last day of his tour itinerary, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for works to replace old pipelines of Attur-Narasingapuram combined water supply scheme to supply more drinking water. “The replacing of old pipelines has been taken up at a cost estimate of Rs 19.17 crore as people of Attur and Narasingapuram areas were not getting enough water supply due to old pipelines,” he said.

The Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing works at the Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences at Thalaivasal in Salem district.

The park will host a veterinary institute of global standards, a processing centre for dairy and meat-based products, an incubation centre where people interested in starting livestock-based businesses could undergo training, and various other facilities.

“Tenders were issued and works are progressing at a fast phase for the livestock park spread across 1,102 acres and built at a cost of Rs 1,022 crore. The park will be a boon to farmers raising livestock,” said the Chief Minister. He also insisted the officials to complete works on time. The Chief Minister, who came to Salem from Chennai last Wednesday toured around the three districts to lay foundation stones and launch new projects. In Coimbatore and Tiruchy, Palaniswami held a review meeting with officials on the COVID-19 scenario.
