CHENNAI: Ousted AIADMK leader and former chief minister O Panneerselvam on Friday charged the DMK government for not questioning former union minister A Raja for his 'derogatory' remarks on Hinduism. He also demanded action as per the law against the DMK leader for his hate speech.
Stating that the Constitution of India does not permit insulting any religion, Panneerselvam said: "In this situation, DMK's deputy general secretary Raja had insulted the Hindus with his remarks".
"As a member of Parliament, Raja had taken oath to be with country's sovereign as MP, but (Raja) had made such insulting remarks,” he said.
Stating that it was surprising to note that the Chief Minister maintained silence on the issue, "At the same time when the matter was raised in front of the Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, he refused to answer".
Claiming that the AIADMK party would question if anyone insults any religion, Panneerselvam said "it was sad to note that Raja was not questioned for his insult remarks against Hindus".
He also requested Stalin to ensure that his party members do not involve in such hate and insulting speech against any religion.
