On Tuesday, a special abhishekam was performed to the Varahi Amman in view of the commencement of the Sadhaya Vizha. The festival organising committee which met, decided that the usual grand affair that falls on October 26 would be celebrated in a simple way strictly following the government norms. Accordingly, they decided not to install the traditional pandhal kaal to mark the commencement of the festival, but they performed a special pooja and abhishekam with milk, sandal paste, turmeric and other things to the deity Varahi Amman on the temple premises.
