Vijay sparing BJP not out of fear, says Nainar Nagenthran

Nainar said clarity on the possible entry of the DMDK and the Ramadoss-led PMK into the NDA would emerge within a week

CHENNAI: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday asserted that the saffron party had no need to exert any pressure on actor-politician Vijay, while expressing confidence that the NDA would form the government in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to reporters in Tirunelveli on Republic Day, Nainar said, "The BJP is not a party that keeps anyone under pressure. Everyone is free to act independently. There is no need for us to pressure Vijay." He added that corruption and evil forces had no place in the BJP, claiming this was why Vijay had not spoken against the party.

He said clarity on the possible entry of the DMDK and the Ramadoss-led PMK into the NDA would emerge within a week. "The NDA is expanding. Parties that share the single objective of removing the DMK from power must come together under one umbrella," he said, citing the inclusion of TTV Dhinakaran in the alliance.

Stating that fear of the upcoming elections had gripped the DMK, the Tirunelveli MLA recalled former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remark that there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics, underscoring the fluid nature of alliances ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.

Launching a sharp attack on Chief Minister MK Stalin, the BJP leader accused the DMK government of misleading the public over the Old Pension Scheme.

After promising to implement the old pension, the Chief Minister has cheated government employees by giving them 'Tirunelveli halwa'

Meanwhile, he said the massive public meeting organised in Madurantakam for Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spontaneously turned into a mega conference, drawing an estimated five lakh participants. "No political party in Tamil Nadu has ever organised a gathering of this scale. This itself reflects the people's mood," he said.
