No plans to reopen schools, admissions to begin next week for classes 1,6,9: Sengottaiyan

The entire admission process for State-run schools will go online, for the current academic year, the Minister added.

School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan, who addressed the reporters today, at the Chief Secretariat announced that the admission for classes 1,6,9 will begin from August 17, while the admission for higher classes are scheduled from August 24.

The entire admission process for State-run schools will go online, for the current academic year, the Minister added.

Further, the minister reiterated that the schools and colleges will not be opened anytime soon, considering the current pandemic situation. "Even while the TN Government is taking all necessary steps to curb the virus, the Government hasn't decided upon reopening schools, as it would be too risky," he added.

Educational institutions have been shut across the country from March 16, and hence the syllabus is being covered through online classes.
