NIA probes places of IS sympathizers in Tamil Nadu

NIA unearths some substantial evidence to prove support for IS in Tamil Nadu.

The National Investigation Agency carried out an extensive search in more than 10 places across Ramanathapuram, Salem and Chidambaram belonging to 10 people believed to be Islamic State (IS) sympathizers. 

Earlier this year, eight people were suspected to espouse IS ideology, who planned to accumulate arms and militiate for freeing up terrorists from prisons. They were booked for sedition on January 8, this year.

The search resulted in finding 3 laptops, 3 hard disks, 16 mobile phones, 8 sim cards, 2 pen drives, 5 memory cards, 1 card reader and 2 knives. These things were seized and probe is continuing.
