CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday signed multiple MoUs worth Rs 10,000 crore with companies in new-generation technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
These investments are expected to create around 4,250 direct jobs in sectors including digital effects and AI-powered virtual reality physiotherapy.
The MoU's were signed between the Tamil Nadu government and new-generation media companies EROS Gen AI, Better Compute Works Inc, Phantom Digital Effects Limited, Cube84 — in the presence of the Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Inaugurating a two-day symposium, 'Umagine TN' on Information Technology, the chief minister said the Dravidian model of governance did not view technology merely as an instrument but as a tool for the social uplift of the people.
Highlighting the role of Chennai, the Chief Minister Stalin said the city has emerged as a global capability centre for next-generation industries, including advanced research and development, fintech, automotive software, and engineering design.
Emphasising balanced and inclusive growth, Stalin said the government was ensuring that technological development was not confined to a single city but spread across the State.
Citing Union Ministry data, he said that 32 of the State's 38 districts were now engaged in software exports, reflecting the widespread reach of the sector.
He further said Tamil Nadu was among the few regions globally to have effectively integrated traditional industries along with emerging sectors.
Hailing the State's human resources, the chief minister said the government was providing students with the latest laptops equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities.
"This is not an expense but an investment in the future. Technology must be accessible to all," he said.
Stating that the State's targets were clear, Stalin stressed that growth should be inclusive, ensuring that no one was left behind. "Knowledge and technology must be equally available to everyone.
The Dravidian model government is building that future for the younger generation," he added.
Minister for Information and Digital services Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Secretary to government Brajendra Navnit and others were present at the event.
