TIRUCHY: Frustrated after a man tried to molest her, a Class 9 girl had attempted to commit suicide by jumping from her school in Thanjavur on Thursday.
Police arrested the accused while the girl with severe injuries has been admitted to hospital.
S Kannan (42), a mason from Ayyampettai had tried to molest a Class 9 girl recently and this had vexed the girl.
She had reportedly lost concentration in her studies and wanted to end her life.
On Thursday evening, while all the students had gone, the girl had reportedly jumped from the first floor of the school building. School authorities rescued and rushed her to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, police registered a case against Kannan and arrested him.
