CHENNAI: Mist and haze are likely to continue during early morning across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next few days till December 29, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said in its latest forecast.
According to the IMD, minimum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged during this period.
For December 26, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. From December 27 and 28, dry weather is expected to prevail over the region. Rain activity is likely to resume at isolated places over south coastal Tamil Nadu, delta districts and the Karaikal area on December 29 and 30, while the rest of the State is expected to remain dry.
The IMD has also warned of ground frost at isolated pockets over the higher ranges of the Kodaikanal hills in Dindigul district and the Nilgiris district during night and early morning hours on December 26.
Over the past 24 hours, isolated very light rainfall was recorded over Chennai district, while dry weather prevailed over the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
An upper air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea adjoining the south Kerala coast, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, continues to persist, the IMD said.
