COIMBATORE: Tension prevailed in Krishnagiri after police attempted to detain a DMK functionary past midnight on Tuesday for making defamatory remarks against Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on social media.

A police team arrived at the residence of A Anbanandam, a member of the DMK’s Gen-Z coordination committee, in Podampatti village near Rayakottai shortly after midnight.

The move followed a complaint filed by a TVK functionary, who alleged that Anbanandam had posted defamatory videos.
