CHENNAI: The MBBS/BDS counselling under the 7.5% reservation quota for government school students started on Monday. For the 7.5 per cent government quota seats, 454 students are allotted for medical MBBS seats and 104 for dental BDS seats.
Health Minister Ma Subramanian inaugurated the counselling process at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super-Speciality Hospital. At least 2,695 applications have been received for admission to Government Medical and Dental seats in self-financed colleges for MBBS and BDS courses for the year 2022-2023.
Out of this, 2,674 applications were accepted under the 7.5 percent category. As many as 764 male candidates and 1,910 female candidates had applied for the admissions to government medical colleges.
There are a total of 565 seats available under the reservation, including 459 MBBS seats and 106 BDS seats in the State. At least 1,195 students were called for counseling and 565 medical and dental seats were filled on Tuesday.
