Malaysian man suffers cardiac arrest mid-air, dies

A 65-year-old Malaysian national died on board a Malaysia-Tiruchy Air Asia flight that landed at the international airport here on Monday.

Chennaiyah Gopal, the Malaysian national, was scheduled to visit a few temples and other locations here. After a few minutes of taking off from Malaysia, Chennaiyah suffered severe chest pain and the crew gave him all first-aid. However, it is said, the pain intensified and minutes later, he fainted. The airline crew, along with the medical experts, monitored him but he died few minutes later. The medical officials inspected the passenger and declared that the passenger died of a cardiac arrest. The crew immediately contacted the Tiruchy airport and passed on the information.


After the flight landed, the body of Chennaiyah was taken to the GH, where it is kept. The airport officials and the airlines officials said that the family members of the deceased have been informed and further processes are on. The officials said that the family members are on constant touch with them and the body would be handed over to them after the formalities.
