TIRUCHY: As part of the probe into the Karur campaign tragedy that claimed 41 lives and left 110 injured, teams from the CBI, Union Home Ministry and Central Forensic Science Laboratories under the Directorate of Forensic Science Services on Saturday inspected the campaign bus used by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay.

The bus, which was brought from Chennai on instructions and stationed at the PWD guest house in Karur, underwent a detailed examination. The driver of the vehicle, Bharanidharan (34), from Chennai, was also quizzed by probe officials.

During the inspection, officials examined the CCTV cameras installed in the bus, its facilities and other additional arrangements. The entire process was video recorded by another team of officials.

Sources said the officials also verified the cameras' quality following reports that high-resolution cameras had been installed on the bus to use such footage in Vijay’s yet-to-be-released movie, Jana Nayagan.

Earlier, a team of three advocates representing TVK handed over documents related to the bus and Bharanidharan’s driving licence to the CBI officers.

The inspection forms part of the ongoing investigation into the stampede that occurred during Vijay’s political campaign in Karur on September 27.
