CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has extended the interim injunction restraining the unauthorised commercial use of actor Kamal Haasan's name and photographs without his consent.

Stating that a Chennai-based company named Neeyevidai has been selling T-shirts and shirts by unauthorisedly using his photographs, name, the title "Ulaga Nayagan", and his famous dialogues without his permission, actor Kamal Haasan has filed a personality rights suit before the Madras High Court.

When the case came up for hearing, the judge had granted an interim injunction restraining the unauthorised commercial use of Kamal Haasan's name and photographs.

When the case again came up before Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, Kamal Haasan's counsel argued that Neeyevidai's address was incorrect and that the notice issued was returned. Therefore, the Court permitted notice be sent through e-mail.

The judge permitted service of notice through e-mails and extended the interim stay. The matter was posted to February 25.
