Is lethal cough medicine of Gambia being sold in TN?

CHENNAI: After running an investigation in Tamil Nadu if the banned cough medicine in Gambia is sold in the State, the Drug Regulatory body in TN concluded that the drug has no stocks.

The cough syrup is notorious for being the cause of 66 children deaths in Gambia.

This probe comes after the Haryana-based Maiden Pharmaceuticals that produces the drug came under the Drugs Controller General of India's scanner.

The substance diethylene glycol is found to be in this drug exceeding permissible limits.
