CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Selvaperunthagai on Wednesday asserted that the INDI alliance is strong and unbreakable, and cautioned alliance partners against interfering in the internal affairs of the Congress.

He said complaints have been lodged with the All India Congress Committee (AICC) against party functionaries, including Praveen Chakravarthy, for comments against the alliance and the State government.

Speaking to reporters at Sathyamoorthi Bhavan, the TNCC chief rejected AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s claim that the Congress is exploring a new alliance with Vijay. He said that while EPS is keeping options open in search of allies, the INDIA bloc remains firm and cannot be destabilised.

Responding to questions about statements made by Praveen Chakravarthy, he stated that the leadership has taken serious note of such remarks and will take appropriate action. He also advised coalition parties not to comment on internal matters of the Congress.

On preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections, Selvaperunthagai said the party received an overwhelming response from ticket aspirants. More than 100 applications were submitted on the final day, including by Congress Legislature Party leader Rajesh Kumar seeking re-election from Killiyur.

He criticised the Election Commission for issuing election-related forms only in English in Tamil Nadu, pointing out that regional language forms have been provided in several other States. He urged the poll body to ensure the forms are made available in Tamil without delay.
