Hydroponic ganja worth Rs 12 crore seized at Tiruchy airport, passenger detained

It is said that while the officials were inspecting the baggage of the passengers bound from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur, they suspected the movements of one particular passenger.

TIRUCHY: AIU sleuths of Tiruchy International Airport seized 11. 8 kg of hydroponic ganja worth Rs 12 crore from a passenger bound from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

It is said that while the officials were inspecting the baggage of the passengers bound from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur, they suspected the movements of one particular passenger.

They inspected his baggage and found that it contained as many as 28 packets of hydroponic ganja together weighing 11.8 kg.

Subsequently, the officials booked him under the NDPS Act 1985 and arrested him. Further investigations are on.

Hydroponic ganja possesses a psychoactive compound which costs between Rs 80 lakh to 1 crore per kg, and the seized 11.8 kg could cost around Rs 12 crore, sources said.
