Heavy rains expected for next 3 days in TN

The circulation is likely to move west-northwest wards and concentrate into a depression over East central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday and into a deep depression on Sunday.

CHEENAI: Low pressure formed due to cyclonic circulation is likely to bring heavy rains in several parts of the State in the next three days, the regional meteorological centre said on Thursday.

The centre stated that under the influence of cyclonic circulation over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level, a low pressure area has formed over Andaman sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on Thursday morning.

The circulation is likely to move west-northwest wards and concentrate into a depression over East central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday and into a deep depression on Sunday. Subsequently, it is very likely to recurve northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over westcentral and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal by 24th October. Thereafter, it is likely to move gradually north-northeastwards and reach near West Bengal - Bangladesh coast on 25th October.

The movement of the cyclonic storm is likely to bring moderate rainfall in Chennai and heavy rainfall in isolated thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, including the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari , Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore and Ranipet.

In Chennai, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy and moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 33 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
