CHENNAI: TN Governor, RN Ravi, extended his heartfelt Pongal greetings to the global Tamil community in a formal message released from Lok Bhavan on Wednesday.

In his message, the Governor emphasised the festival’s deep-rooted connection to nature and agriculture. “We express our deepest gratitude to Mother Earth and the Sun God for their abundant blessings that sustain our farms, nurture our families and shape our future,” he stated.

Paying tribute to the agricultural community, Governor Ravi said, “We salute our farming community, whose skill, devotion, and perseverance nourish the land and sustain life.” He also highlighted the significance of Maatu Pongal, celebrating the indispensable role of cattle in agriculture and rural life.

The Governor described Pongal as a proud celebration of the nation’s spiritual and cultural heritage, which transcends boundaries and unites people worldwide. He connected the festivities to the spirit of national unity, noting that “Kaanum Pongal celebrates joy, togetherness... reflecting the various manifestations of the same oneness — Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”

Concluding with his wishes, Governor Ravi expressed hope that the festival would fill every home with happiness, prosperity, and good health. He underscored that the celebrations should strengthen “the spirit of unity, peace, and progress, leading us toward a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
