Fresh Covid cases drop further in TN; Chennai on top with 97 cases

TN’s test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.5% after 13,149 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Ranipet had the highest TPR with 8.2%.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 460 new COVID cases, including a case from Karnataka on Monday. Total number of cases has crossed 35.84 lakh. Chennai had 97 new cases, while 41 cases were recorded in Chengalpattu and 30 cases in Coimbatore. TN’s test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.5% after 13,149 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Ranipet had the highest TPR with 8.2%. Meanwhile, TN’s active cases of COVID-19 stood at 5,339 with the highest number in Chennai – 2,344 cases. A total of 537 people were discharged across the State. Total recoveries exceeded 35.41 lakh. No new COVID fatality was recorded. Death toll remained at 38,047.
