One more case slapped on Shankar for defaming Thevar

Based on a complaint by an advocate, the Race Course police in Coimbatore had booked Shankar and YouTube channel editor Felix Gerald for making derogatory comments on Muthuramalinga Thevar in an attempt to incite riots between communities.

COIMBATORE: YouTuber Savukku Shankar has been booked by Coimbatore city police on Wednesday in a fresh case for allegedly defaming freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar in an interview to a YouTube channel.

Based on a complaint by an advocate, the Race Course police in Coimbatore had booked Shankar and YouTube channel editor Felix Gerald for making derogatory comments on Muthuramalinga Thevar in an attempt to incite riots between communities. The offensive remarks were made on October 31, last year.

Meanwhile, Shankar, who is lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison and detained under Goondas Act, was taken to Tiruchy by women police personnel in connection with another case. Ever since his arrest, cases were piling up against him in stations across Tamil Nadu.

The Coimbatore cybercrime wing police arrested Shankar from Theni on May 4 for his alleged derogatory remarks on women police personnel in an interview to another YouTube channel.
