TASMAC employee was murdered in Manimangalam

The accused Vinod (36) hails from Ramanathapuram district and Kanikai Raj (56) from Chrompet was working in a private bar.

CHENNAI: A 56-year-old TASMAC employee was murdered in Manimangalam On Friday. Police arrested the victim's colleague.

Police identified the deceased as Kanikkai Raj (56) of Chromepet, who was working in the Tasmac shop in Manimangalam. Vinoth (36) of Ramanthapuram was also working in the Tasmac shop.

On Friday night a group of men visited the shop after closing time and argued with the staff to give liquor. During that time a quarrel broke out between them and the group attacked both the Tasmac employees and escaped from the spot.

After the incident, Vinoth thought that the group was linked with Kanikkai Raj and started to argue with him. Following this, Vinod attacked Kanikkai Raj with a stick.

On impact, Kanikkai Raj fell to the ground and suffered severe injuries on his head. Later, Vinod escaped from the place. On the cries of Kanikkai Raj, the neighbours rushed him to Chromepet GH, where the doctors examined and declared him brought dead.

On information, the Manimangalam police registered a case and arrested Vinoth. The police remanded Vinoth and lodged in prison on Saturday.
