EC unwraps plans to release final rolls

Following this review, the full Election Commission team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is expected to visit the State to take a call on the dates for the ensuing Assembly elections.

CHENNAI: Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu will visit Chennai on February 11 to review the voter list revision process ahead of the publication of the final electoral roll on February 17.

During his visit, Yeturu will hold discussions with Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik and senior officials of the Election Department. He will also be briefed on the preparedness for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Following this review, the full Election Commission team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is expected to visit the State to take a call on the dates for the ensuing Assembly elections.

Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, the period for filing claims and objections to the draft electoral roll concluded on January 30. Election officials are currently scrutinising the applications submitted during this period.

The Deputy Election Commissioner's review aims to ensure a flawless electoral roll in the State before the election process begins.
