DVAC raids: AIADMK cadres gather outside Velumani’s Kovai house

The partymen shouted slogans against the police and the State government against the ongoing Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) raids.

COIMBATORE: Tension prevailed as a large number of AIADMK cadres, who had gathered in front of AIADMK ex-minister SP Velumani’s house in Kuniamuthur in Coimbatore were forcibly removed by the police.

They were led by AIADMK MLAs Amman K Arjunan, KR Jayaram and other MLA’s. The partymen shouted slogans against the police and the State government against the ongoing Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) raids.

Security has been beefed up in front of Velumani’s house. Raids were carried out in 26 places linked to Velumani at Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy and Chengalpattu districts over misappropriation of funds in replacing the street lights with LED lights between 2015 and 2018.
