CHENNAI: Chennai woke up to drizzling rain and cooler weather on Saturday morning, with the Regional Meteorological Centre stating that light to moderate rainfall was likely to continue in the city and various parts of the state till 10 am.

According to the RMC, isolated places in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain. Similar conditions are expected in Puducherry and the Karaikal region during the same period.

Several parts of coastal Tamil Nadu and the delta region received rainfall over the last 21 hours. As per RMC data recorded till 5.30 am, Mahabalipuram in Chengalpattu district received the highest rainfall of 7 mm, followed by Cuddalore with 6 mm.

Nungambakkam and Karaikal recorded 5 mm each, while Nagapattinam received 4 mm. Taramani recorded 3.4 mm of rainfall.
