DMK candidate DM Kathir Anand accompanied by his father and party Treasurer Duraimurugan came to the Collectorate around 2.15 pm accompanied by MLAs AP Nandakumar and P Karthikeyan and party district presidium chairman Mohammed Saqhy.

Kathir Anand’s wife Sangeetha also filed her nomination as the alternative (dummy) candidate for the Vellore Lok Sabha poll.

Tight security

There was heavy police presence at the Collector’s office to ensure only the mandated number of people enter the premises. The move follows the tussle at the main doors last time which led to policemen on duty at the spot being issued memos by the department for failing to prevent entry of unwanted members of the public, sources revealed.

Seven others also filed their nominations as independents and were Pasumai Mohan, Dhanapal, Sekar, Godfrey Nobel, Solomon, Shah Nawaz Khan and Kathiravan.
