It is said, Sakthivel (49), Sullimadapalayam DMK ward secretary, went to exercise his franchise at Thennilai polling station at booth no 102 at 11 am. While he was standing in the queue, he fell down unconscious with severe chest pain. Those standing along with Sakthivel attempted to give first aid, but he did not regain consciousness. Subsequently, he was rushed to the hospital in Karur. But he succumbed on the way to the hospital. It is said, Sakthivel was active during the election campaigning in Aravakurichi.
