DMK man dies while waiting to cast vote

In a shocking incident, a DMK cadre, who was standing in the queue for casting his vote at Thennilai polling booth in Aravakurichi, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday.

It is said, Sakthivel (49), Sullimadapalayam DMK ward secretary, went to exercise his franchise at Thennilai polling station at booth no 102 at 11 am. While he was standing in the queue, he fell down unconscious with severe chest pain. Those standing along with Sakthivel attempted to give first aid, but he did not regain consciousness. Subsequently, he was rushed to the hospital in Karur. But he succumbed on the way to the hospital. It is said, Sakthivel was active during the election campaigning in Aravakurichi. DMK candidate V Senthil Balaji paid tribute to Sakthivel’s body kept in Karur GH.
