Udhayanidhi met office-bearers of the youth wing on Sunday and visited the ancestral house of his grandfather and party patriarch the late M Karunanidhi. He stayed at the house in Sannidhi Street where his grandfather Karunanidhi grew up.

On Monday, the DMK youth wing secretary inaugurated desilting work at Naramangalam in Tiruvarur by the wing and said a special camp would be held for the membership drive on September 14.

Stating that the special camp would be a head turner in state politics, Udhayanidhi said there was no plan to reshuffle office-bearers in the youth wing.

Elaborating on the leg work being done by the DMK youth wing to revive the waterbodies in the state, Udhayanidhi said that the DMK had always strived to increase the ground water level in the state.

Subsequently, he proceeded to Tirukuvalai, in Nagapattinam district, the birth place of the late Karunanidhi and handed over Vathamadayan pond to the people. The pond was desilted by the youth wing. He also laid foundation stone for the retaining walls construction for the pond which would also be undertaken by the youth wing there.
