CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded 442 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, taking the total number to over 35.72 cases in the State. Chennai reported 85 new cases, Coimbatore had 62 cases, Chengalpattu 40 cases and Kanyakumari 24.

After 17,992 samples were tested, the TN’s overall test positivity rate stood at 2.5%. Tiruppur recorded highest TPR of 6.9%. As many as 463 more people were discharged from several hospitals across the State, bringing the recoveries to over 35.29 lakh. No new COVID fatality was reported. Death toll stood at 38,038.
