CHENNAI: Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan on Monday sharpened his attack on the DMK following its Madurai general council resolutions attacking the BJP-led Centre, accusing the State ruling party of promoting dynastic politics, institutional corruption, and peddling lies.
"The DMK general council meeting was merely a coronation ceremony for the prince," he said, referring to Chief Minister M K Stalin's son and his deputy Udhayanidhi.
"The resolutions passed were not for the people, but to shield a regime built on nepotism and a history of corruption," he said in a statement.
Murugan alleged that the DMK, under Stalin's leadership, continues to indulge in the "scientific corruption" model first established by former CM M Karunanidhi.
"The party has institutionalised corruption, and its leaders live in fear of investigative agencies because they know the extent of their wrongdoings," he stated.
Murugan dismissed the general council's resolutions as attempts to divert public attention from DMK's failures.
"From Tamil classical language day demands to false claims on withheld central funds, the DMK is spinning stories instead of addressing people's real issues," Murugan said.
He also countered claims of Hindi imposition and delay in publishing the Keezhadi excavation report, calling them baseless.
Highlighting the central government's support to Tamil Nadu, he said over Rs 11 lakh crore has been allocated to the State under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure.
Murugan also pointed out that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had already addressed issues like gold loan restrictions.
He accused the DMK of political cowardice over the caste-based census and questioned the party's silence on historic missteps during the UPA government.
"The AIADMK-BJP alliance is gaining momentum. In 2026, the people of Tamil Nadu will deliver a historic mandate to end the DMK's exploitative regime," he added.
